AI planning can feel daunting, fragmented, and costly. For many colleges and universities, the hardest question is still the simplest: Where do we start?
That is why we created the PLAN by HEEM AI Strategy Planning Collaboration.
This guided, seven month planning experience is designed to help institutions move from scattered AI activity and uncertainty to a clear, comprehensive, institution wide AI strategy.
HEEM is inviting a limited number of colleges and universities to participate in the collaboration.

Why a Collaborative Model?
As AI use expands, institutions are facing many of the same questions related to policy, governance, risk, implementation, and coordination. The collaborative model creates an opportunity to compare approaches, examine emerging practices, test assumptions, and learn alongside peers while still developing an AI strategy tailored to each institution’s mission, capacity, and priorities.
Shared Investment Model
The collaboration is structured to make comprehensive AI strategic planning more accessible. The total cost of the collaborative planning process is shared across the participating institutions, reducing the per institution investment while maintaining individualized planning and HEEM support.
Expected Investment
The anticipated program fee is $40,000 to $45,000 per institution, based on final cohort participation and scope. To support institutional budgeting and planning, the program fee will be payable in three equal installments over the seven month collaboration period.
Participation Expectations
Institutions selected for the seven month collaboration should be prepared to:
• Participate in one cohort session each month.
• Complete four institution specific HEEM strategy sessions.
• Convene two on-campus or institution led AI-planning session.
• Identify a small internal leadership team to guide the work.
• Complete agreed planning activities between sessions.
• Participate in the final strategy presentation and review.
• Participating institutions must commit to incorporating the perspectives of students, faculty, senior leadership, and the Board throughout the planning process.

Terms of Participation

Participation is subject to application review and cohort availability.

The collaboration is designed to support institutional planning and decision making. It does not constitute legal, regulatory, cybersecurity, or compliance advice.

Each institution remains responsible for its own policies, approvals, governance decisions, technology choices, and implementation actions.

Program structure, schedule, deliverables, and pricing may be adjusted based on final cohort composition and institutional needs.

Participation in the collaboration does not guarantee any specific institutional, financial, compliance, or operational outcome.

Plan by HEEM - AI Strategy Planning software is included for a 12-month term beginning with the Collaborative.
