Your Privacy Choices

HEEM Consulting believes you should have control over how your personal information is used. In addition to the formal rights described above, we provide various privacy choices that allow you to manage your data and communications. This section outlines the practical steps you can take to tailor your experience and privacy preferences.

1. Marketing Communications Choices: If you subscribe to our newsletters, insights, or other marketing communications, you can choose to stop receiving these messages at any time. Each marketing email we send includes an “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom – clicking that link will remove you from the distribution list for that specific type of communication. You can also manage your communication preferences by contacting us (email or phone) and specifying which communications you want to opt out of. For example, you might opt out of newsletters but still allow us to send you event invitations. We will honor your opt-out requests promptly. Please note that even if you opt out of promotional emails, we may still send you transactional or necessary communications, such as responses to your direct inquiries, service updates, or legal notices, as these are not promotional in nature.

2. Cookie Preferences: When you first visit our website, you have the choice to accept or reject non-essential cookies via our cookie consent banner. You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the “Change Cookie Consent” link (usually found in the website footer or in this Legal & Compliance section). Using that tool, you can adjust which categories of cookies you allow – for instance, you could disable analytics or advertising cookies while keeping essential ones. If you prefer, you can also control cookies through your web browser settings. Each browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.) allows you to block or delete cookies. You can set your browser to prompt you before accepting cookies, or to block cookies by default. Please consult your browser’s help documentation for specific instructions (see our Cookies Policy for helpful links). Keep in mind that disabling cookies might affect some website functionality (as explained in the Cookies Policy). We encourage you to use our on-site tools for a more granular approach (so you can reject advertising cookies but keep site-functional ones, for example). Your cookie choices made via our tool will be remembered through a cookie on your browser; if you clear your cookies, you may need to set your preferences again.

3. Do Not Sell or Share Preference: As discussed, we do not sell personal data, but we still provide you with the ability to set a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” preference. If you want to formally record this preference, you can click the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link available on our website (typically in the footer of each page). Once you submit an opt-out request through that link or form, we will refrain from selling or sharing your personal data for targeted advertising. If you have enabled a browser-based opt-out signal like the Global Privacy Control (GPC), our website will recognize it and automatically treat it as a do-not-sell/sharing request. You do not need to do anything further in that case. (Make sure your browser or extension is configured for GPC; not all browsers support it yet.) See the next section "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" for more details on this process.

4. Analytics and Advertising Choices: We do not currently serve third-party advertisements on our website, nor do we profile users for advertising. However, to the extent we use analytics services that gather data about your online activities (like Google Analytics), you have choices to limit that data collection. For example: - You can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which prevents Google Analytics from collecting information on your visits (available at Google’s site). If in the future we partner with advertising or remarketing services, we will provide you with notice and the ability to opt out of targeted ads. Common industry opt-outs include the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA)’s WebChoices tool and the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out page, which allow you to opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies. We will update our policies to include relevant links if this becomes applicable. - You can also adjust your social media advertising settings if you follow us on platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn, to control how your data is used for ad targeting on those platforms.

5. Do Not Track: “Do Not Track” (DNT) is a setting available in most web browsers that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. Currently, there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and as such, our website may not react to a generic DNT header. Instead, we rely on the mechanisms described above (cookie consent, opt-out links, GPC) to manage opt-outs. We will continue to monitor developments around Do Not Track and will honor any required signals if standards emerge. In the meantime, using our cookie tool or GPC is the most effective way to communicate your preferences to us.

6. Access and Correction: Beyond the formal rights process, if you have an account or profile with us (for instance, a client portal login or event registration profile), you can often access and update basic personal information yourself by logging into that account. We encourage you to keep your information up to date. If you encounter any issues updating your details, you can contact us for assistance, and we will help make the changes as needed (subject to verification for security).

7. Complaints or Questions: Exercising your privacy choices should be straightforward. If you experience any difficulty or have any questions about managing your preferences, please contact us at info@heemconsulting.com. We will gladly guide you through the process.

Additionally, if you believe your privacy rights have been violated or you have a complaint about how we handle your data, let us know. We will work to address and resolve your concerns. You also have the right to contact regulatory authorities (like a state Attorney General or a data protection authority) with any complaints, but we kindly ask for the chance to address your concerns first, as we are confident we can find a satisfactory solution.

In summary, Your Privacy Choices allow you to say “yes” or “no” to various uses of your data. We strive to make these choices accessible and honored in all of our systems. Our goal is to give you control and peace of mind in how your personal information is used by HEEM Consulting.
